Auto Mechanic

Service with Integrity

The whole reason I became a mechanic originates from an experience I had when I was a sophomore in high school. My first car had a charging system problem, so I took it to a shop and told the mechanic that was all I wanted fixed. He did fix it, but he also changed all the hoses and belts. He gave me a $350 bill (which is a lot of money when you're 16 and working a part-time job) even though I hadn't asked him to do any of that work. In that moment I told myself that I was going to learn how to do this stuff myself. That's why I want my customers to know that I want to serve you well and will never charge you for the things you don't need.

BEST AROUND! I’ve been taking my cars almost exclusively to Verduin Automotive for as long as it’s been around. The owner is completely honest about what needs to be fixed on your vehicle and prices are unbeatable.

Extremely honest and excellent mechanic! I would never trust anyone else with my vehicles. Great prices and great service.

I took my car in expecting a somewhat costly repair, but they diagnosed and corrected a much simpler (and less expensive) problem. Additionally, they accomplished this in a timely and courteous manner. This place epitomizes honesty and service; I would recommend them to family, friend, or stranger.

About Me

 Jim verduin

Ever since I was a child, I've been fascinated with taking things apart and putting them back together. I soon began experimenting on cars and learning how to fix them on my own, later refining my skills by working in body shops. After high school I attended a trade school on a full scholarship. After several years of working at a couple dealerships and doing additional work out of my home garage, I  decided it was time to own my own shop. I've been operating Verduin Automotive since 2015. I work and live in Cedar Lake, am happily married with four beautiful children.
